Although Slow Food East Lothian only started in the autumn of 2006 we had some very successfull events:

  • Bass Rock Cafe; a taste of rare Italian delicacies
  • La Potiniere; a seven course meal with locally sourced ingredients
  • An Italian-Scottish surprise dinner at Osteria Cosmo and Angelo in North Berwick.
  • A meal dedicated to old fashioned mutton in the Linton Hotel in East Linton with expert Laurent Vernet who talked about meat production and the effects of it on the taste of the meat.
  • And of course the East Lothian Slow Food Festival was organized in April, August and September. There were thousands of visitors enjoying local produced food!
  • Two very entertaining Greek nights in the Buttercup (renamed “Andreas Tavern”) in North Berwick in June
  • 11th of August: Taste of the Mediterranean.
  • 27th September: a Slow Food School lunch for the pupils of North Berwick High School, prepared by two local chefs from local ingredients. The diners were waited on by 6th year pupils
  • Saturday 29th September: Slow Food Fun Day for Kids in the Marquee. Activities to introduce children to different foods and where they come from.
  • Same day, Scottish Cheese Workshops; Archie Macdairmid from Slow Food Edinburgh presented a wonderful range of Scottish Cheeses. John Tiller of Slow Food East Lothian compared and discussed which wines best complemented the individual cheeses, with a lovely selection of Italian wines, supplied by Lockett Bros of North Berwick.
